What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
A woman's body should be her's to decide on her healthcare rights. No man should have that power over them. I will support a woman's right to determine her own healthcare needs and protect a woman's right to make her own medical decisions
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Yes i support expanding both programs. We have more and more elderly americans that are unable to retire because we have been cutting both of these programs and it's just going to get worse over the next couple of decades unless we properly fund both.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes I believe in election reform. We must take corporate money and dark money off of the table. We must reform campaigning to where it doesn't cost millions of dollars to run for federal offices.
Unknown Position Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
We increase defense spending yearly and it never seems to help the soldiers who truly need it. We have the biggest and strongest military in the world already. I believe we can keep our spending at the current levels and instead take that increase and spend it on more important social programs that will help average Americans that truly need the help. Our military will be just fine.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Unknown Position Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Trickle down economics hasn't ever worked, and corporations are already paying less than most average Americans in taxes, if they have to pay anything at all. We must have proper corporate taxes and proper taxing of the most wealthy among us. The lowest brackets shouldn't be paying more than the highest.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
I do believe we need basic standards to make sure that our children get properly educated to compete in today's modern technological world. We need to be able to provide all a solid path to a great future.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I believe we need to do everything in our power to reduce the CO2 emissions, and better regulate all industries to protect our planet for our future generations. The cleaner our air quality is, the better all of our lives are, and the less health issues our citizens will have.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes I believe in common sense gun laws. Banning extended magazine clips, bump stocks and parts that make it easy for 1 person to kill hundreds in minutes. I also believe we need red flag laws that prevent a person from harming themselves or others.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
I believe we should be expanding healthcare coverage while working on reducing the costs across the board. I believe everyone should be able to have full access to preventative care no matter what their income level, and no matter what type of care. Dental, Mental, and Physical health should be covered because they are all intertwined. No citizen should be prevented from quality care or treated like second class citizens when it comes to our healthcare.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I believe we need to fix our broken immigration system that the current administration has used to demean and hurt families in need. We should never be putting children in cages. We must get rid of the for profit prison systems that are making millions of dollars off of these peoples suffering. We must give people of all nations a proper path to citizenship no matter what color, race, sexual orientation, or income levels.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
I believe we should not be starting any more wars in the middle east and work to get our troops home from the current battles. We need to come to the table with the entire world at this point and start trying to work together to achieve so much that we want to accomplish in the next 50 years. It's 2020, not 1820, we need to stop the bickering and start working together again.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Yes i believe we should be taking away the current sets of tariffs that are killing multiple industries in America today. We need leaders that are going to come to the tables and negotiate in our interests and not the 1% and corporations. We have to start looking out for our small businesses once again and stop subsidizing complete industries that make billions annually in profits on their own that don't need it and instead invest it in companies that truly do need help.
Healthcare costs, reducing the costs across the board for healthcare. Fix the immigration system. Get rid of the for profit prison systems. Work on the failing infrastructure of our district and work on getting internet to all of my rural communities that need it.
